East Side Theft

Copper thieves struck again over the weekend, stealing $800 worth of plumbing and causing $4,000 in damages to a vacant house in the 800 block of East 10th Street.

Piping was cut from basement walls and a water heater, causing the house to flood, according to Cpl. Randy Pixler.

South Side Robbery

A woman loading groceries into her car at a store Sunday was robbed of her purse after an unknown suspect struck her in the face, according to police.

The robbery occurred about 5 p.m. at Grocery Warehouse, 1545 S. Prairie Ave., according to officer Phil Hartman.

The woman did not see her attacker, who crept from behind and hit her with something "harder than a fist," Hartman said.

The victim's purse contained numerous bottles of medication and other items. Hartman said the victim's right eye had swelled shut afterward, and that she experienced dizziness.

North Side Trailer Theft

A $4,000 trailer was reported stolen from a job site Monday.

The trailer was taken over the weekend from the 2600 block of Fourth Avenue, according to Cpl. Gerardo Ortiz. The trailer belonged to Abatement of Colorado Springs, and had license plate 421-HHJ.
